I have so much fun the last couple of days at Ressor Pond, and I found out there seems to be a lower Ressor Pond, is that a site worth visit ? where exactly is it and is it public accessible?

Some said about walking around the Ressor Pond, the path seems to just go along the road and not really into the brushes, am i missing something here...

Stepping into Dec, where is a good place to bird watch and what to expect.... being new in this forum, please forgive my ignorant.

Lower Reesor pond. Just north of the beginning of Reesor Road from Old Finch Avenue (which runs across the top of the Toronto Zoo).
There is not path all the way around this pond, only a berm running along two sides. The Rouge Valley friends (?) strongly recommend (having been corrected by one myself) not walking around the shore away from the berm.

Upper Reesor pond. The paved path runs along 2 sides (W and N) and a little bit of the south side. There is a dog walking trail (fairly overgrown) around the rest of the pond. It is more easily found from the end of then path on the south side. The north side involves a little bit of rock hopping.

Hope this helps.

As for other birding areas, I initially used the TOC hotspots page. Other sites I found from reports to this forum and the ONTBIRDS site. There are also various walks held which I found/find useful (many other now more about birds and what to look for than do I).

Thanks Graham, your reply and info is greatly appreciated, I shall certainly pay a visit to the Lower pond and will try not to walk around the shore....

you mentioned about walks held for bird watch, any recommendation ?  There is so much to learn and at this point of time, i m only good to tell a bird from a duck... and i try to stay away from any owl, as i do carry a camera from time to time...... lol.

Will you, by any chance, visit the upper ressor pond on sunday morning around 7:30 am ?  and last Sat around 4 pm ? If you were, then our path may have crossed.

Anyway, once again, thanks, and looking forward to say hi....

ps. i enjoy your photo with the RT hawk.

You have the link to OFO at the top of the page on the forum, you can also try http://www.torontobirding.ca/ and follow the pages to their field trip page.
Also http://ontario-travel.suite101.com/arti ... ronto_area
Finally http://www.ccfew.org/html/bird_walks.html next walk Humber Bay, Dec 5th. Can't make it. Having my dancing Xmas party that day.

Hope  this helps. I am also sure that others have more information than you could know what to do with. I'm just a newbie at this.

Being at Reesor Pond on weekends is unlikely, and 7.30am is an unreasonable time for me. Some other place we should bump into each other.
