Has anyone here every been to Haiti?

I have not and
just such a dreadful tragedy it is
these poor people, we can not
even begin to imagine

I felt sorry also for that RCMP officer
who went down to help out
and spoke with his wife, then was
killed 30 min later (he was from the East Coast here)

Further, I realize they are
dealing with the people now

but I was wondering what type of
birds, nature there would be there
as they too, must be suffering

Egret

My heart goes out to all

Unfortunately, widespread environmental destruction, particularly deforestation, is one of Haiti's many problems.  The endemic bird species of Hispaniola are safe only because of forest preservation in the Dominican Republic.
