Can anyone tell me what bird this is..taken a the Spit last June, not the greatest pics but it's all I could get at a distance...I thought it was a Sandpiper but the chest colouring threw me off....

It looks to me like a solitary sandpiper.

Mark good call, I checked all 3 bird books I have and in the Audubon North American Birds Eastern Region there is a picture very similar with colour to match..thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

By the size of the bill, the shape and the colour of the legs I would say this is a Lesser Yellowlegs.
