CF Cards

Does anyone have any experience with Dane-Elec compact flash cards?  I saw them at Black's and the pricing is very good.  Unfortunately the staff in the store didn't have any knowledge about the cards, i.e. speed.

Black's rarely is the best place to get memory cards. Almost any place is better. I've been using the A-Data UDMA series purchased at CanadaComputers.com and they've been working very well, great bang for the buck too.

i usually stick with scandisk extreme,or recently,i bought a lexar pro 8 gb,on sale by  the way at future shop in whitby.it,s a very fast card,which is handy when doing IF,to clear your camera quickly,so you can get back into action.it,s highly recommended,for cameras with a high burst,ie( mark 11,mark 111 8-10 fr/per/sec ). since you,re hooked on IF,get a fast card. you wont regret it,as the shot of a lifetime,flies by,and your camera,s still writing files to your card.

For trouble-free and long term stability, Nikon recommends Lexor, more expensive or Sandisk, more economical CF  or SD cards.  Please see following thread discussions on related card issues:

For CF I only use SANDISK and they're great. For SD I usually go cheapie at TigerDirect.ca, can't beat their deals. Blacks and Henrys are a ripoff for cards IMO.

I bought a Dane-Elec CF card for my first digital camera about 5 years ago.  I have never had a problem with it, but it is noticeably slower than the SanDisk Ultra or Extreme cards I use with my DSLR.  (I put it in a DSLR for comparison once.)  I think CF card failures are pretty rare.  A bigger concern is probably speed.  Rob Galbraith maintains a large CF card performance database here: http://robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

sandisk and lexmark, from what i understand, are the two best rated cards.
low chance of corruption, won't fry or break on you.
i put a sandisk card through the washer and dryer and it still worked.
