here are what may be the last of my pics for a month (we may have a loaner camera but not sure how great it will be).

we started off at Lambton Woods.  finally saw the red bellied woodpecker and now know where its likely nesting with its partner. didn't get any great pics of it, though.
still lots of the smaller woodpeckers.
anyone know if this would be a juvenile? it looks a little...punky?

another couldn't get enough of that tasty suet treat.

we made a quick trip to Humber East on the way home. not much to see except the pair of wigeons swimming on the front pond/bridge area

Beautiful, clear photos.

Woodpecker has that whole Billy Idol/Sid Vicious/Heat Miser thing going on ... http://www.thepunkguy.com/music/Heatmiser.bmp

A Widgeon, eh...  interesting name...  wonder if I've seen one?  I've seen a lot of water fowl this past winter and some I am still unsure what they were.  From Tommy Thompson Park to west of the Credit River and all inbetween.

drop the the "d"...its wigeon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Wigeon  this one was a male. you can easily "find" them when they quack. its really humourous.

i find that the smaller woodpeckers are, by far, the easiest bird to photograph (that and my GBH friend that never seems to mind my presence).
at one point i actually had to zoom out because they got too close.

i've had downy woodpeckers fly and hover 2 feet from my face. they don't seem to care much about people and don't shy away.

We're lucky enough to have a pair of downy woodpeckers that live in or close by our yard, as they are pretty much always there and are very use to us.
Lovely shots.
