How to get published and get paid

I'm trying to pitch a story and an upcoming photo adventure to some papers and magazines.
I may have one paper interested.

wondering if anyone can suggest any magazines that may be interested in paying for some unique photos.

have you tried asking at your local camera store? they have magazines there too, and they may have the info you are looking for.
