these were taken at various locations,and various times,in and around the whitby area.
the semi-palmated plover,and sandpiper were taken in cobourg.

Very nice pictures Denis! I think picture number 3 is showing a Solitary Sandpiper. The spotting on the dark back, the eye ring and the greenish base on the bill point to Solitary Sandpiper.

thanks so much,thomas.i have a hard time identifying these sometimes.corrections made.there are so many different species.here,s another one i,m unsure of taken at CSS.i,m thinking least,or pectoral.what do you think.

The last bird is a Least Sandpiper. Pectoral Sandpipers are a little bigger ("medium-sized"), have extensive dense breast-streaking and a more prominent eye-stripe. Nice image!

Edit: Also, note that the bill is not all-black on Pectoral.
