i saw one foraging on the ground beside the road once. that's when i knew why they call them turkey vultures.
they also look like messengers of the dead.

There was one flying about Marie Curtis on Thursday, I must be a true bird lover because when you get a picture of them from underneath their flight pics can be pretty awesome looking.

Good shot. Obviously they were looking for carnage..lol

ugly is right, but quite magnificent when flying.
It was really cool to see them just sitting there, I rarely ever come across  them perched for long enough to snap a few shots.

Very lucky! I used to know of a TV perching spot in Grimsby where photographs were great but they dont use that anymore :cry:

TV's are "fun" :)

It's a lot easier to shoot them on the ground when there's a some roadkill or carcass.

I agree about shooting them on the ground.
Most of my friends think I'm pretty gross, I'm always scanning the road- side for casualties.
Then looking up to see if anyone is going to come down for a snack.
I always miss out though.
