Sunday evening, I was driving along the 401 and spotted a black vulture walking along the edge of the highway. Not sure of my exact location, but was heading east approx half way between Windsor and London.

I'm a bit curious. I'm just wondering what field marks you saw to determine that the vulture wasn't an immature Turkey Vulture?

I'm no expert, but it was smaller than a TV with a very distinct grey head.

Could it have possibly been a Wild Turkey? Note: Black Vultures are very rare in Southern Ontario.
