I now carpool to and from work.. I used to sleep most of the way home on the "Go'.. Now that I am awake I have been quite impressed with the number of raptors along the 401 westbound from Keele street all the way to Milton.

Today was an active day with fairly mild temps (2:45 pm departure)  many redtails along the route. Usual hot spots are 410 & 401 interchange, Highway 10 to Credit river and Winston Churchill to James Snow.

Today at James Snow off ramp alone, a  pale undersided "Roughleg Hawk"  hovering and an American Kestrel on the steel rail of the overpass flicking its tail..

At home for some reason too many Euro Starlings,  at least one Cardinal singing (odd)...last weekend at the creek I spotted a bunch of House finches in the scrub area. We have had sporadic visits from chickade's, junkos, house sparrows, American tree sparrows and Cardinals..

I travel up Hwy. 27 on my way to school every day and usually see anwhere from 3 to as many as 6 raptors each trip.  My favourite spot to locate them is on the west side of 27 in a couple of big dead trees that are just south of the Dixon Rd. bridge.  They usually roost in those trees but I've also seen them on light standards as well as on the sign fixtures.

Very cool stuff!

Hey!!

Generally there is at least 1 hawk around the airfield where I work and Kestrels aswell..

This past week I am sure I spotted a "Rough Legged Hawk" at around 9:30 in the morning.. (Tuesday)

Soaring near the railway tracks Downsview park. North of Wilson..  Most  Days there are Hawks out over the airfield soaring ..

I believe the airfield can entered from the  sheppard  entrance (West side of base)follow Carl hall road to the tracks immediately go south to the fence

to view the field. Or follow Carl hall road all the way back to  Sheppard to the East entrance..

hey all

Like I said before if you want to see hawks, head to Downsview Park and airfield..

I have pretty much unlimited access to the place cause I work there..

Today at 3:00 pm  five hawks soaring over the airfield.. I have never seen that before.

Redtails heavy again along the drive home and  One suspected  Roughie....

at Trafalgar Rd and  401..
