Need Help - Raptor trapped in Grocery Store

My wife and son just came home telling me there is a `hawk' flying around inside the Sobey's grocery store in Grimsby, ON.

They didn't see the bird so it could be anything from a Sharpie to a Red Tail. The staff were talking to the customers about it.

The bird has been in the store for two (2) days. The manager has tried calling different people but has not had anyone willing to help rescue the bird.

I have just been looking at the Ontario MNR with little luck.

Any suggestions would be welcome.  Or you can Google ` Sobey's Grimsby' and contact them directly.

Thanks

Hi Wringer,

I'll post this on the Hamilton Birds google group, and see if they have any suggestions.

I've once seen a Bat in the Beamsville Sobey's. Apparently things that fly like Sobey's

Wringer ... not sure if they could help you or not but have you tried contacting Mountsberg Raptor Centre?  (905) 854-2276.

Cody ... I would think once they saw their prices, they would fly right back out of there!

Thank you for your posts and PM.

I called the store this morning and apparently the Ontario MNR is involved. They are going to attempt to `live trap' the bird if it doesn't find its own way out.

The bird is in a back room of the store now and they have left a door open for him to escape.

Fingers crossed.

I called the store again today - The `hawk' (falcon?) was captured and released.
I asked who had done it, the lady on the phone wasn't sure of the name but said it was the `lady who does the hawks'.

So, it sounds like it has worked out OK - so far. Hopefully the bird will be OK after the ordeal.

Thanks again for the suggestions and PM's.
