Nests

One of the things I love about late fall / winter, is that previously undetected nests become visible...it always amazes me to find nests in spots I never suspected....is there some kind of guide for nests ? (To help identify them.)

We have been commenting on the nests we have seen since the leaves have fallen off the trees...  and too are amazed at how close and should have been in plain sight to us through the summer.  Yeah, Oriole nests are the only ones I can kinda remember.

One thing I have noticed is how often the nests are right next to a trail or area where people walk by somtimes withing a few feet.

I noticed a nest this morning on my walk that was about the size of a golf ball. I was so curious as to what type of bird built it. I have never seen a nest that small. It didn't look like it was a bigger nest that had been damaged down to that size. I really love how every season brings a different aspect to birding and nature viewing.
