It is certainly a treat to see them. Your photo captured it well.
They showed up at my feeders in Stouffville over a month ago (on October 26th) in good numbers, initially up to 11 at once, but have been in smaller numbers (1 or 2 at a time) in the last week. I presume that the initial influx of birds have moved on to greener pastures -- or warmer feeders.
However, I have been hosting Common Redpolls beginning on Monday November 29th. The American Goldfinches are also in greater numbers than I expected -- up to 42 at one time on just 2 feeders. I think it portends an interesting winter of birding.
