Am heading with a tour on Feb 26th to Fisherville and Nanticoke areas to view Short-eared Owls and Bald Eagles. Im really looking forward to doing this trip. As I dont drive, its a great chance to get there. A friend who attends the raptor watch at Rosetta McClain Gardens just started a tour company recently. I thought others here may be interested in coming. Hope this isnt considered advertising and I dont get hung. His site is http://authenticcanadiantours.ca Hope some of you can make it,I think it would be more fun to meet some of you and share the trip with. A contact I have, through volunteering with the Canadian Peregrine Foundation, that works in the area saw 12 Bald Eagles today(Sat). A couple years back when Walter and I went with another friend we saw a nice roadside Snowy Owl and many Roughlegged Hawks in the area too. (also landed up in a ditch that trip when reversing to see a Roughie...luckily Walter and I shoved us out in short order) Anyway hope some others join in.

Phenominal DAY!! It was a real pleasure to meet Rob and Angie today as part of the trip. Boy did we see some special stuff. Most amazing was seeing 7 Bald Eagles circle together,a few were right above us. 2 juveniles kept chasing one another, talon clasping, bumping one another..something never to be forgotton. We saw at least a dozen Bald Eagles in total. At Fisherville we easily saw at least 4 Short-eared Owls. They sat co-operatively not far off the main road, sometimes flying in the field from perch to perch. At Ruthven Park we had great views of a Tufted Titmouse, such a small bird created quite a buzz. A final stop was at LaSalle Marina where we enjoyed hearing a Trumpeter band tuning up. We also spotted a juvenile Glacous Gull on the ice near the pier?/dock. More will be written when the merry band of birders is in a more able state.

Awesome Day! Awesome Trip!
I had four lifers; Tufted Titmouse, Short-eared Owl, Northern Harrier and the Glacous Gull.
Really enjoyed meeting some of the fine folk from the board; Big Frank, Murray, Anne, Feathered and Stalker Pete! It was a great group of
people to be out birding with. Can't wait to do it again.

Big Frank, can't believe you forgot to mention that the RTH's were as common as Pigeons in a downtown park! How many did we see? 50! LOL!!

A great day overall!  We had 3 hopefuls to see on our journey and scored a hat-trick (Bald Eagles, Short-eared Owls and a Tufted Titmouse).

A great group and I'd be happy to join them all again on another adventure.  Murray is a an excellent host/guide and at one point he summed it all up...  "This is a great day, I am standing in front of 6 people, and all with big smiles on their faces."  And at this point we weren't even looking at birds either, just enjoying the afternoon.

Incredible day! It was great meeting you all and sharing such exciting sightings. Those eagles flying and playing above us was something I won't soon forget. :D I look forward to heading out with Murray and you guys again if you come up to Algonquin in the spring... we haven't decided what day to go yet but we'll definitely be there.

We can't decide either!  :?
We're definitely going, and I am leaning towards the May date, because it's on the long weekend and later in the migration, but I'm worried about the black flies.....decisions, decisions.
