I was at Colonel Sam Smith park today from 2:30-3:45 and sighted the following: 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 10 Chickadees, 1 White-breasted Nuthatch, 1 Trumpeter Swan, 2 Mute Swans, 10 Gadwall, 100+ Common Goldeneye, 100+ Long-tailed Ducks, 1 Hooded Merganser  :) 2 Lesser Scaup, 100+ Bufflehead 50+ Red-breasted Merganser, 1 White-winged Scoter, 50+ Mallards, 10-15 American Black Duck, 50+ Canada Geese, 2 Mute Swans, 30+ Ring-billed Gulls, 15-20 Herring Gulls, 1 Northern Shrike  :lol:  :D I am almost certain that I saw 2 Northern Shrikes, but I am hestitant to report 2 due to the fact that they were in different locations in the park. Does anybody know if there is 2 Shrikes in the park?

When I saw the kestrel fighting with the shrike in January, there was another shrike perched at the top of the tree on the western point I could clearly see with my binoculars, and I think I've read someone else reporting two as well, but I'm not sure.

There have definitely been two Northern Shrikes in the park this winter.

I was there yesterday too, and I was wondering if there were two as well...because friends of mine saw one on the other side when I was seeing one where I was...I also know there were two red-tails as well, one was over by the pond and the other in the meadow.

Okay thanks, i am positive now that I did see two there yesterday  :)  And ravynne40, I saw your post on the park yesterday it would have been nice to see the redpolls but at the time I was unaware that there was any there so I did not see them :cry: Thanks!

I am wondering if the Shrikes are going to stay in the park or do they move on come Spring?  You know, like this is a wintering spot.   :?

The Northern Shrikes move further north in spring. They can only be seen in winter in southern Ontario.

Will they were by the pond going north towards the lakeshore
