I walked to the Brickworks (market visit) today and, wow....
For those of you who enjoyed birding there in past years, you should greatly lower your expectations.
Crowd was worse than ever.
A man had his dog swimming in one of the ponds that's often populated by ducks.
No birds to see other than a very close encounter with a red tailed hawk when i was hiking up the escarpment to go home (he was catching a snake 30 feet in front of me. This was a BIG RTH and very beautiful). Maybe 6 swallows to see, zero purple martins, zero kingfishers, 2 mallards.
Walking home along the Don trail, i observed 1 yellow warbler (the only kind I saw last spring) and heard 2-3 others. Heard what was possibly a baltimore oriole but didn't observe it.
