The large bowl was quiet this afternoon, but a Veery and a Common Yellowthroat were foraging in the tangle just east of the small bowl, where a Chestnut-sided Warbler was singing and several Cape May Warblers were feeding. The brushy wooded area east of the soccer field was swarming with activity, however, especially the large willow(?), where I had six warblers species feeding and singing in the same tree (Myrtle, Palm, Chestnut-sided, Nashville, Yellow, Northern Parula). Oddly, I didn't see or hear any Black-throated species. The thicket also yielded two American Redstarts, Catbirds, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Baltimore Orioles, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, many White-throated and -crowned Sparrows, Song Sparrows, and a single Lincoln's Sparrow (a first for me after a miss on Saturday) that gave me a brief but unobstructed view of the fine, dark streaks across its side and buffy wash.
I also checked out the pond to see if the Teal or Pied-billed Grebe were around, but just a bunch of geese and a Mute Swan.
