I was up in the Bon Echo area for a couple days and had these critters swim past my camp spot. A first for me.

very cool. I've never seen river otters in the wild. I may be in the Bon Echo area this summer, would you care to show where you were on a map? If you aren't sure how to do that, here are instructions for how to post a link to a map:

Very cool! Oddly enough, the one and only time I glimpsed a River Otter was practically in downtown Toronto at the Leslie Street Spit.
