I'm not really strong on shorebirds, but I believe these are actually Short-billed Dowitchers.  They can be very tricky to distinguish, but I think the bellies look too pale for Long-billed.  Also Short-billed are far more commonly seen in migration around here.

I still remember seeing one for the first time and thinking that's a short bill?  How much longer could it be!?

Yes, Short-billed. Long-billed short also have white edges on the scapulars (feathers on the wings) in breeding plumage.

Hi Paul,

Great shots as always, excellent POV.  Just wondering for my own benefit where you're finding the shorebirds, i'm very familiar with Kingston and the surrounding area.  I wish that I'd have been more interested in birding when I lived out that way a few years ago!
