A hearty thank you to Alvan & Reuven for politely correcting me. Thanks to them, I've become a waxwing master and will am in that spirit posting two mediocre-at-best photographs! A cedar w.w. from yesterday at the L. Spit, and a b. waxwing from April 11 in Richmond Hill! Why not? I'm delighted to have learned that I can easily differentiate by looking at the UNDERTAIL feathers - white for the cedar, rust/orange for the bohemian. Also, the breast/belly color is rather different! Huzzah, etc. and thank you again

Nice ones David.

I've yet to see a Bohemian Waxwing.

And I am always trying for my one great pic (to me anyways) of a Cedar Waxwing.

they catch you by surprise. its happened to me a few times...you hear their whispering and you turn around and one is on a branch at eye level.  and check your PM, sir

Good catch to differentiate these two beautiful birds!  Does anyone know do Cedar Waxwings stay in the GTA all winter?  or do they migrate?

They mostly migrate, but you can sometimes see them in winter in big flock.
