There is a groundhog that is usually around every year on a grassy median on the DVP, between Spanbridge and Eglinton. Usually it is just doing its thing on the grass. But on Friday I was driving southbound and I spotted it lounging on its side on the top of the concrete barrier, watching the traffic zip by just a few feet away. Would have made for a great shot except I was driving at 90 km/h.

I am always happy to see the ground hogs there . I worry that they will get hit by cars , and have seen a few young ones that have been hit . I think they are run over after leaving the borrow in search of a new home.

Yeah, that's a tough spot for young groundhogs to leave. Hope they have better success this year.

His name is Wilbur...well that's is what we call him at least. I see him pretty much every Sunday, after attending Sunday mass. He has a wife, her name is Wilma. I tried to get a shot of him on a few occasions. I have seen him up on concrete barrier a few times too. Sometimes he stands up and poses for passing motorists. Cool to see how wildlife can adapt and live in the most unexpected places.
