Was working nearby so i decided on taking the drive.  Very good bird sightings..  The best and first for me though was an American Woodcock that ran across the road in front of me.  Also if you start at Wylie and go north, then west on Alvar Rd, then south on Lake Dalrymple Rd, then back east on #6.  Turn right (south) on 33 and there is a really nice swamp with lots of trees on the east side just south of 6.  I saw two Virginia Rails in there.  Which were first for me as well.  As you continue south there are two Osprey nests and a couple of good spot to see GBH's.  I find when driving up in this area if you map it out and make sure to drive by areas where rivers cross over you will pass through some good marsh areas that have good sightings of marsh birds.

My wife and I drove on Wylie Rd. yesterday (July 31) and saw quite a bit despite it being late in the season. Great place! not much traffic so it was very quiet.
Sightings included:
American Woodcock
Brown Thrasher
female Bobolink
Eastern Meadowlark
Upland Sandpiper
Baltimore Oriole. male and female
Savannah Sparrow
Eastern Kingbird
Pheobe
Blue jay
Red Winged Balckbirds
Wilsons Snipe

Also saw some unkowns crossing the road ahread of us in the shadows but they were too far away to make any positive ID's
