I walked along the trail south from Finch, lots of Mallards, RW Blackbirds and Gulls, a few American Goldfinch, Cedar Waxwings, a Rooster (probably the one Steve Garrett heard) and a House Sparrow. Several Canada Geese flew over too.

Here's some photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/61658184@N ... 319574456/ including the Rooster.

I'm glad it has been able to avoid the foxes and coyotes! I wonder how it will get through the winter...

I walked along the trail shortly after the storm passed through and saw an adult and an immature Black Crowned Night Heron and a Great Blue Heron as well as the usual Mallards, gulls and sparrows. Thanks to feathered for IDing the immature Black Crowned Night Heron.

May I ask if the terns were in flight or on the ground.

Have been trying to find some either on ground and/or on water but no luck whatsoever.

Thanks.

The terns were in flight here. There are lots more at Marie Curtis Park and I have seen them land there.

I was walking along the trail late this evening after a day of rain and saw an immature Black Crowned Night Heron and lots of gulls and Mallards. The Mallards were so accustomed to people they stayed on the path when a cyclist went by them but then got scared by a rabbit running nearby.

Early this afternoon there were lots of Mallards, sparrows, pigeons and gulls. This evening I saw the Rooster and a Great Blue Heron as well. The vegetation is partially flattened from the storm yesterday and a tree branch is down partly blocking the trail by the Humberwood bridge.

The Great Blue Herons have been around for the last couple of days as well as a Belted Kingfisher and the usual Mallards.  I saw a pair of domestic ducks that may have something to do with the hybrid Mallards I have seen.
