I looked out into my backyard at about 2pm this afternoon and saw a blue female Budgie feeding under the Magnolia in my backyard with a flock of House Sparrows.  I approached it, and it let me get right up next to it, but the branch it was perched on was just a little too high for me to reach, and I wasn't able to coax it down into my hand.  I live in Guildwood in Scarborough, so if anyone in the area is missing a Budgie, or knows someone who is, I'd be more than happy to help get her home to you in anyway that I can.

Hardy har har Dave!   :D

If you really want to catch it, and it is allowing you to get so close to it...  bring out a light towel or t-shirt and drop it over the bird.  After that, the big question is what do you do with it?  Keep it.  I believe the Humane Society might take it (phone first).  A small pet shop might take it.  And I found a number of people on Kijiji who seem to have a want for unwanted birds...  but I am not one of them and definitely not on Kijiji.  We seriously thought this one over and if it weren't for our other Budgie taking a liking to the new one we'd probably still be debating the situation.

But walking up to it and hoping it will land in your hand is not impossible but highly unlikely as even a hand raised bird who is suddenly in the wild may have trust issues with new people.

She will most likely be hanging around your feeders for the next while if she is still there.

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.

Thanks, I'll try that if I can manage to get close to her while she's on the ground; she's usually perched about 8 ft. up in our Magnolia when I go out there.
