Hi everyone.  This morning from 8:15am onwards, NW corner of Lake Aquitaine - small area of open water.  Sighted the following:

Canada Geese x 20
Mallards x 130

2 Crows flying by, very agitated.  I took a look around but no sign of hawks.

My favourite squirrel, "White Nose" came over to say Hello and have a shelled peanut.

Cold, windy weather and "light snow grains".  A lot of black ice.

Some guy was skating at the SW corner of the lake - meanwhile, it's very thin ice and watery!  I was expecting to call 911 any second if he went through the ice!    Eventually, he and his hockey stick left.

Lake Aquitaine:  SE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Aquitaine Ave., behind the Meadowvale Community Centre.

I must have just missed you.  Arrived aout 9:45 ( to 12 noon) .

Saw the 2 crows - noisy.
3 Jays, 4 Cardinals M, 4 Cardinals F,  3 Chickadees - taking peanuts from me in the trees on the west side of the north bridge.

About 100 Mallards ( M & F equal)

Yes, White Nose was there and took a few peanuts from me too.  Also saw a black squirrle with a white patch on the end of his tail.  Gonna call him Tippy.   Lots of "mummy" squirrles today ( fur torn of ther back of the neck as you described to me.) They got doubles from me !!

Went up to Maplewood - still looking for your owl!  Nut much activity up there, but I did spot a little woodpecker - I think it was a female Downy - quite small, short bill, no red spot on the head. Flitting around from tree to tree.

Yes. :)  On a really good day, you'll see Downy, Hairy and Pileated at Maplewood!   8)
