Today in Downsview I saw 2 Cardinals, 4 Morning Doves and one Coyote.  Let me know if you see anything else in the Downsview area!

I used to work in Downsview Park. Lots of mockingbirds and most days I'd see the big female red-tail or one of the kestrels that nest every year in one of the hangars, and hear the meadowlarks. I found turkey tracks and a spotted sandpiper pair that tried to raise a brood in the crummy little 'marsh' one time, nesting savannah sparrows, willow flycatchers... It's quiet nowadays but in the spring you can pick up some good migrants... sparrows, buntings, orioles, many kinds of warbler. My best bird was probably the short-eared owl I accidentally flushed on Christmas morning before work two years back.

Hey

last week along the tracks I Spotted a Downy Woodpecker. I've never seen one in this area before.

Were you Walking a dog taking pictures?

I wasn't walking the dog, I guess some other people are checking out Downsview.  I did see a couple of Amereican Kestrels today and a red winged hawk, no sign of the coyote though.  I am thinking about building some bird boxes for the park, maybe some blue bird (haven't seen any in the park yet) or something for the Flickers or the tree swallow populations that are already present.  Let me know if anyone has any ideas.
