We spotted the following at Sam Smith's on Wednesday.

13 land birds and 13 waterfowl

house sparrow
chickadee
WB nuthatch
American goldfinch
Mourning dove
Northern mocking bird
Northern shrike
Downy
Red tailed hawk
Coopers hawk
American kestrel
Brown creeper
Blue jay

Ring-billed gull
Great black backed gull
Mallard
Gadwall
Canada goose
Mute swan
Bufflehead
Longtail
Common Goldeneye
Lesser Scaup
American Coot
RB merganser
American black duck

We observed the Coopers wading through a creek drinking - beautiful sight.  Later we saw the shrike dive bomb the kestrel, and later still the kestrel chasing the red tailed hawk.

As we write this - we are observing a red tailed hawk in our backyard maple tree.  In Roncesvalles village.

Cheers

Nice list... I watched the shrike and kestrel fight over a mouse and a sparrow last winter, and it was a sight to see.

Here is one topic regarding Scaup identifcation:

I know there are more older ones, but unfortunately they are not searchable and thus hard to find.

Thank you for the info, although it was hard to tell since they were 200-300 meters away.
