After a fruitful visit to Bronte Harbour, we continued West for our first ever visit to Lasalle Park in Burlington. What a little gem! Highlights for us included a small group of Ruddy Ducks, 17 W.W.Scoters, and a beautiful pair of Canvasbacks. Unfortunately no sign of the young King Eider - I'm sure he showed up as soon as we left. The sight of so many Trumpeter Swans was spectacular, and the sound was deafening! We counted 118 - most with the yellow tags. (apparently this huge population is thanks to a Trumpeter Restoration Project). We also enjoyed watching several of the swans (some still showing soft grey plumage) performing a lengthy mating display in a tightly huddled circle - it really looked like they were dancing!
