Attila ... Wow, NICE!  :D

I'm heading out to YYZ after lunch today so will probably be there from 2pm onwards.  Peak times today:  2:30-4:30pm and 6:15-9:15pm.

Question for Attila:

When  you are shooting the planes with propellers....I would like to know if you are using a slow shutter speed?..I tried shooting a plane with props and they looked like they were standing still not moving at all..for example your picture of the Herc...I love the propellers in this..when I take it..the propellers are not even close to what yours look like...can you advise me?

much appreciated

Irene

Cody - yes, AN-124.

Irene - yes, I usually switch over to shutter priority (Tv if you use Canon, not sure for Nikon) and set the speed at 200 or below, it really depends on how courageous I'm feeling at that time.  The lowest I've gone is 1/80, but I usually stay around 1/200 as it gives some blur while still maintaining sharpness in the overall quality of the rest of the image.

Best advice I can give you - head out to Pearson and practice on the Dash 8's.  They come in all the time and it gets one used to shooting in settings that become familiar to you.

Cheers, Attila

Thanks I will make a note of it (I carry around a little cheat sheet with me) depending on what I'm shooting I like to pre-set the camera before hand too sometimes.
I'll let you know how it works out for me :)

we don't go to the airport too often lol...I'm sensitive to the noise..somedays even my a/c is too loud.

Just got home from a truly spectacular afternoon and evening at YYZ - VERY active Rwy 24r including a major surprise arrival by Emirates B777-300ER.  Wow!
