Hey Folks,

I have a few days off this week and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out where to go.
I'm thinking I'll keep it at about/under 2hours each way.
I'm not sure what is out there at this time of year,nor do I know what I am looking for really. I just want to get out and about, so any suggestions would be great.

How about Col. Sam and/or Humber Bay for starters? You can probably do both in half a day; not too much walking and still good views of lots of shorebirds. Any other suggestions?

I would offer Bronte Creek PP. It is about 20-30min from Toronto. They do charge a entrance fee but not much ($12-15) and there are portable washrooms unlike other areas where they are still closed. Last week I was there and found

lots of bluebirds
mocking birds
brown creepers
downy & hairy woodpeckers
Pileated woodpecker
both nuthatches
Cooper & Red-tail hawks
LEO's  but only found evidence none seen, may have left for north


 And the from the posting on Friday, the field where the Horned larks, snow bunting, and lapsurs is just south of the park, 1km

I second the Long Point suggestion. You get the Tundra Swans, Tuft Titmouse and other early migrants.

Seriously though - did you see the ONTBIRDS report re: 72 Red-necked Grebes at Col. Sam Smith Park.  

I second Howieh's suggestion of Col. Sam Smith Park and Humber Bay Park.

I'm holding off on that till the foliage come in, makes for some nicer photographs...but  thanks Jo-Anne... :roll:
Now I can do all the things mentioned.
I am familiar will everywhere except Long Point.
I know what is out there, but where do I go to find everything.
Can anyone who has been out that way offer any sort of directions to the birds that are there.

Second Marsh in Oshawa is a good choice. There are a variety of habitats to check out in the area.
