After school today from 4:30-5:45 I went birding today in Turney Woods (my backyard) in search of new spring migrants. Turney Woods is the 6 acre woodlot at the corner of Erin Mills Parkway and Brittania Road in Mississauga. It is a great spring migrant trap, as it offers several different habitats, some of my birds seen today included:
Golden/Ruby-crowned Kinglets
Yellow-Rumped Warblers
Hermit Thrushes
Winter Wrens (3)
Carolina Wren
Eastern Phoebe
Red/White-breasted Nuthatches
Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers (2)
Downy/Hairy Woodpeckers
Northern Flickers (2)
Chipping/Fox Sparrows
Sharp-shinned/Red-tailed Hawk
Looking Forward to what the coming weeks will bring
